Product Design.
True Technologies has a long history (20 years+) of doing design work for products that make sound.  We have done transducer designs from 1/2" earphone drivers to 24" 1000W subwoofers for speaker companies in automotive, consumer electronics, pro-sound markets.  We have also done systems work with projects in automotive sound systems, headphones, high end home audio speakers, etc.  One of our niches is catering to companies that need to incorporate sound into their products but don't have the internal expertise.  These customers have come from the medical, railroad, safety device, marine, and gaming industries.

Give us a spec and a cost target and we can support your team from concept to post production support, or however you need us to fit in.  We have connections for component suppliers and manufacturers all over the world.

Research & Development.  At True Technologies we pride ourselves on being able to think outside the box to come up with solutions to problems not yet solved.  We lean on our understanding of the history and physics of electro-acoustic transducers and systems to develop innovation strategies.  If your company is looking to develop a new technology that involves creating sound, we can help you understand the physical and marketing challenges you might face.  We have been hired to assess prior art ramifications as they relate to new intellectual property creation.  We have served as integral team members for companies engaged in multi-million dollars research efforts that have resulted in patented technologies.   As with all of our projects, we put the highest emphasis on keeping the customer IP confidential.

Product Evaluation.  Since our inception in 1998, True Technologies has helped clients assess the performance of hundreds of products.  We are adept at performing competitive benchmarking studies that yield data that our clients depend on to make good decisions during product development and business strategy formulation.  We were technical contributors at Audio Magazine doing product evaluation for electronics and loudspeakers.  We use industry standard equipment along with internally developed specialized gear to give the customer insight into the product under review.  Beyond doing performance measurements, we are experienced in delivering reports detailing a comprehensive tear down analysis.  This service is often retained as part of an effort to trouble shoot and improve products with chronic defects.

Finite Element Analysis.  True Technologies founder, Bob True, has been doing Finite Element Analysis for modeling loudspeakers since joining the research group at International Jensen in 1990.  Since then he has undertaken scores of projects as part of R&D and product development efforts.   FEA has been one of the primary services offered to True Technologies clients since the company began in 1998.  Now, in an effort to bring even more
advanced & validated FEA modeling capability to our North American customers, we have have forged a partnership with iCapture.dk - a newly formed Danish company that provides technical and management consulting focused on multiphysic electromagnetic, vibroacoustic and structural dynamic/static product development & simulation.  The founder of iCapture.dk is Ulrik Skov who Bob worked with at Tymphany Corporation.  Ulrik's diverse educational background and work experience since 1989 has over the past years positioned him as a brilliant FEA specialist and problem solver.  True Technologies is proud to be the North American representative for iCapture.dk's services - see the iCapture.dk website for more details.  Together, True Technolgies and iCapture.dk bring NA companies access to dedicated FEA experience, advanced FEA capability and state of the art FEA tools that are typically reserved for billion dollar enterprises.

Between Ulrik and Bob, there is a deep knowledge of how to get the most from our FEA tools.  We know what works and what doesn't work.  We know when models can be simplified to give faster (cheaper) results without compromising accuracy.  We know the limitations of the science and of the art and we never advise clients to take on projects when the methods are not capable or cost effective.

These tools have been applied to create more efficient speakers with less distortion.  They have been used to find and eliminate failure modes and to make more robust designs from the onset.  Full 2D/3D full vibro-acoustic frequency response predictions are made with a high degree of accuracy when optimizing loudspeaker diaphragms, dust caps, etc. to yield better sounding devices.   2D/3D magnetic modeling is offered including AC and demagnetization predictions.  We have the means to determine the material properties needed to do this type of modeling, even when proprietary formulas for soft parts are involved.   The modeling capability is well suited for conventional and unconventional transducers alike.

SolidWorks modeling.  True Technologies has formed a partnership with Chinese loudspeaker engineers and CAD specialists to bring the West cost effective product design including SolidWorks modeling.  We always approach every project with Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Assembly (DFA) concepts in mind.  Whether your project requires full 3D CAD modeling or you simply need to generate dimensioned 2D drawings, we can get it done cost effectively.

Custom Test System and Software Development.  True Technologies has developed custom test systems for numerous customers in the loudspeaker industry.  Examples include cone resonance measurement systems, large scale power test systems, plane wave tubes, machine vision systems for measuring voice coil ovality, end-of-line test software for electronic and acoustic QC testing, anechoic chambers, and others.  These systems often include custom software interfaces that incorporate database structures for tracking part numbers and for searching archived data.  Statistical process tools are also typically integrated to help engineers and quality staff members understand the capability and historical trends of their finished assemblies and sub-components.  We are experts in developing systems that require audio signal generation and complex analysis techniques.  Simple automation capabilities can been incorporated to reduce cycle times, ensure safety, and limit potential injury due to repetitive motion.  We focus on the customer need and rely on our years of accumulated knowledge of how these types of systems are typically employed to get the job done right and on time.  Whether the designation is the factory floor, an engineering lab, or a QC test station, we have plenty of experience to understand and overcome the challenges.

While developing custom test and measurement systems is a good sideline business for True Technologies, we also stay up to date on the capabilities of applicable off-the-shelf products.  We prefer to not reinvent the wheel and we understand the need to keep the over all project cost to a minimum.  If implementing a competitor's product is the right solution for our customer, we have no hesitation in taking that approach.  Several past projects have involved implementing 3rd party systems and developing training packages, implementing cross-site integration, writing work instructions, etc.

Manufacturing and Quality System Assessment.   True Technologies founder, Bob True, has previously built manufacturing, engineering, program management, and quality systems from the ground up.   He also has experience in troubleshooting existing systems both in the US and in China.  He led the engineering and quality functions at International Jensen (first speaker company to get QS9000 certified) in the 1990s and served as VP of WW Operations, Chief Quality Officer, and Chief Technology Officer for Tymphany corporation.   He has a long lived passion for building processes that are streamlined yet robust from product concept through to post production support.  True Technologies has been hired by customers to assess and lead improvement teams for manufacturing, quality, program management, and engineering systems.

We are not big fans of buzz words that flow so freely within these circles, but we are big believers in developing clearly defined systems that are efficient and that rely on self measurement as a means for driving continuous improvement.

True Technologies has been brought in to do due diligence reporting as part of the M&A process.
